About Us

slides6Greetings from Faith Lutheran in Clintonville. Here are just a few words about where we came from, where we are, and where we plan to go.

Faith Lutheran is a congregation of the East Central Synod of Wisconsin, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). We are located at 545 S. Main Street in Clintonville, WI.

History

In early 2010 Christus Lutheran church of Clintonville voted to leave the ELCA because of the church-wide vote allowing gay and lesbians as equal partners in ministry as members of the Body of Christ. A group of worshipers chose to remain part of the ELCA. The question was “how?”

Our former location at 84 S. Main Street in Clintonville, WI

After much prayer and worship in a small room available to us, we took the first step. In February 2010 Faith Lutheran became a SAWC (Synodically Authorized Worshiping Community). Pastor Ron Nielsen came to serve Faith on Sundays. In the summer of 2010 we worshiped at Imago Dei Church Camp and in the fall rented the Matteson town hall. Then the Montour-Engel building at 84 South Main Street, Clintonville was rented and became our home.

Pastor Ray Claussen

Our former Pastor Ray Claussen, now retired

In June of 2011 Pastor Ray Claussen came on board as a part-time mission developer. We soon found ourselves short on space and began the process of remodeling. After remodeling, we could now worship 70 on a Sunday morning. We had a successful fundraiser and purchased comfortable padded chairs for our worship space.

Our first class of confirmation students affirmed their baptism in the spring of 2012. We continue to have children’s Bible classes called “JAM” (Jesus And Me) as well as confirmation classes on Sundays. Worship and fellowship take place on Sunday mornings.

By early 2013 we had 28 families calling Faith their home. As we continued to grow, we began looking for more space.

In spring 2014 we purchased the former Aurora health care building on the south end of Clintonville.

In the summer of 2014, Pastor Ray Claussen retired and we began looking for a new pastor.

We moved into this new location on October 18, 2014. Our new home is located at 545 S. Main Street in Clintonville, south of Fox Valley Technical College and across from Fleet Farm.

We are excited as we continue to seek ways to reach out to the Clintonville area.

Core Values and Guiding Principles

Our hope and dream is to grow to the point where we can be self-sustaining. Our Core Values as we work toward that vision are:

  1. Love/compassion
  2. Community
  3. Mission
  4. Family/health/security
  5. Leadership/courage
  6. Respect/self-esteem
  7. Spirituality

We have adopted the following guiding principles to remind us who and why we are:

  1. Jesus is Lord
  2. All Are Welcome
  3. Courageous compassion can change the world
  4. Excellence in ministry and mission promotes healthy community

We realize that there are and will be many challenges that lie ahead of us, but by the grace of God, determination, and committed members we believe our dreams will be realized and that there is a place for this community in the Clintonville area and we fully expect to be a vibrant expression of the ELCA.
